Adventure tour operator Go Ireland (Est. 1994) offers a superb range of guided day walks, off the beaten path. Walks are moderate, from 6-10 miles (10-17km) and done at a leisurely pace. The walks last 6-7 hours including transfer time. Walks are suitable for all with a reasonable level of fitness and a spirit of adventure!!
There is also the opportunity to climb Ireland’s highest mountain – Carrauntoohill graded difficult.

Kerry is justly deemed a walker’s paradise. The Iveragh Peninsula contains the best – from Killarney’s renowned Lakeland to the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks, Ireland’s highest mountain range to the spectacular coastline well known to those who have travelled the Ring of Kerry. Your enjoyment is ensured as you walk through dramatic scenery – high peaks and valleys carved in the Ice Ages, lakes and bays and views of the broad Atlantic Ocean. A range of wildlife enhances the experience. The Killarney National Park is home to the only pure herd of Irish Red Deer. Throughout the peninsula there is rare flora and fauna and the experienced bird watcher will have adequate scope for observation. You can take a walk through history along the Kerry Way, Ireland’s premier waymarked trail that has a backbone of old coaching routes and butter roads. Some of the lines may go back to pre-history and mythology permeates the very landscape.

A gentle walk on ancient bog road and stunning Atlantic beach. Walk finishes at the Red Fox Inn where you can also visit Irelands only Bog Village museum.

The Atlantic Coast along the Kerry Way (Kells-Glenbeigh)
The slopes of Drung Hill give spectacular views over the Atlantic Coast and Dingle Bay.? Tread the same path used by our early ancestors while discovering archeological artefacts and 4,000-year-old rock art.

Ascent: 300m / 1,000ft

Tuesday
The Kerry Way (Glenbeigh-Glencar)
Walk from the seaside village of Glenbeigh, ascending gradually to circle Seefin Mountain (seat of Irish legend Fionn). The great views over Dingle Bay and Lough Caragh are a photographers paradise. Stroll downwards into the lush valley of the Caragh River. Finishes at the renowned Climbers Inn.

Carrauntoohill – Irelands highest mountain – 1039m
Climb Carrauntoohil, Irelands majestic highest mountain (1039m), with spectacular views over the southwest and as far north as Galway Bay. A reasonable level of fitness is required.

Killarney National Park
Discover the wild side of Killarney National Park, habitat of the only pure herd of Irish Red Deer. Starting in the ancient oak woods of Derrycunnihy, walk the Old Kenmare Road, regarded in medieval times as the most westerly route in the world! Descend beside the spectacular Torc waterfall and stroll by Muckross Lake into the gardens of Muckross House (19th century mansion), with its welcoming teashop

The Kerry Way (Black Valley) and Gap of Dunloe
The dramatic, ice-carved Black Valley has an alpine appearance. Walk through the peaceful, remote Black Valley, followed by a walk through the internationally known Gap of Dunloe with an opportunity to finish the day with an Irish coffee at Kate Kearneys Cottage.
